How to transfer a server to another ESN account

Give one of your servers to a friend or a new owner by their ESN account email, what happens to billing, and how the new owner takes over the plan.

You can move a server you own to another ESN panel account, using that account's email address. The server, its files and its address stay the same; only the owner changes.

Before you start

  • The new owner needs an ESN account. If they don't have one, they can create one first.
  • Only the server's owner can transfer it, and you'll confirm with your panel password.
  • Some servers can't be moved from the panel: free trial servers (buy a plan first), bundle servers, Titan and Gift servers, suspended servers, and servers that are still installing or restoring. For bundles, Titan and Gift, open a ticket and staff will help.
  • There's a daily limit on transfers, so the button may ask you to try again later.

Transfer it

  1. Open the server and go to Settings.
  2. Find the Transfer Server box and type their ESN account email.
  3. Read the confirmation. It says the server will move to that account and that you lose access right away.
  4. Enter your panel password and choose Yes, transfer server.

This can only be undone if the new owner transfers it back to you. Both of you get an email about the transfer.

What happens to billing

  • If the server is on a monthly or yearly plan, your plan will not renew. It ends when the time you already paid for runs out, and you won't be charged for it again.
  • The new owner sees a Take over billing box in the server's Settings. It's the same price, and their card isn't charged until your paid time runs out.
  • If they don't take over billing by then, the server is suspended (not deleted) until they do.

For the new owner

  1. Sign in and open the server from your dashboard.
  2. Go to Settings → Take over billing and pay on Stripe's checkout.
  3. You'll see "Billing is yours now", and the details arrive by email.
Stay safe: only transfer to people you trust. ESN staff will never ask you to transfer a server to them.
